How do I know if my home is Green?

There are new green programs and initiatives popping up every day and it is hard to keep track of all of them!  However, there are three major, nationally recognized rating systems for green building that are leading the way:

 

LEED – The US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design program.  (www.usgbc.org) This program is one of the most comprehensive and takes a holistic approach to Green from plans to final construction.

 

National Home Builders Association’s green certification – (www.nahbgreen.org) Similar to LEED, this program is concerned with all aspects of the home building process.

 

ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines.  The ENERGY STAR label also designates superior energy performance in homes. What standard does Potterhill Homes use?

  • All Potterhill Homes earn the Meridian Mark Green Seal. To qualify for the Green Seal, Potterhill Homes must earn at least one of the certifications listed above and be built to meet all three ratings standards
